The yellow line in the middle of the road that says, “I permit you to pass!” is a very funny thing.
It’s either if you’re in an emergency, in which case you would pass anyway - or you’re just impatient and the person in front is going slowly. It’s as if, inordinately sensitive to the annoyance of the more ambitious driver, the department of transportation spent time researching traffic zones and set out an entire crew to adjust the lines just so this driver won’t feel uncomfortable with either their impatience of their decision to cross the double line.
