so much of our media and education and public conversation and governance are spent on coordination problems. How should we live together, what should we compromise on, who is wrong who is right, what’s the best thing to do, etc etc. All of that is only required if people need to find a way to coexist. If you don’t have that requirement, if you have some type of anarchist, decentralized, voluntarism paradise, that entire system of coordination can mostly just go away. People don’t need to debate or find ways to work together or agree on laws, etc. when exit is always available to them. people can just do the thing they want and look for the information they want - just genuinely follow their interests - and not need to have this prior requirement of cohabitating, which sucks up most of the airtime and resources for a society.
In fact, it’s almost as if a society exists for keeping the society together. a-society-that-only-perpetuates-itself-does-nothing
