Published Talking Points are Playbooks Available for Enemy Consumption

When media outlets and influencers package up repeatable talking points to their audiences, it is similar to handing out “common rebuttals to…” pamphlets to religious missionaries (weak analogy). This imparts both strength and weakness.

Strength: Their masses unify on common points and this creates a massive, cohesive narrative.

Weakness: They are publishing their playbook. Ideological opponents can look here to develop their own counter-arguments (This tends to be an [arms race](ideological-arms-races)).

Double Weakness: Those who think for themselves, who combine many viewpoints and types of fact-finding and moral reasoning - these free-thinkers pose the most dangerous threat to point-talkers in two ways: The free-thinkers have the point-talkers’ playbook, but the point-talkers do not have each individual free-thinker’s playbook. The free-thinkers are accustomed to formulating their own arguments and integrating new information, while the point-talker is uncomfortable and poor-performing off-script.
