there’s a reason death is a different kind of harm than injury. a creature can learn from injury and improve because of it. likewise if you’re forced into something against your will - it’s an opportunity to learn something about the world and its subjects. Death is not like that. That’s one of the reasons it is an ultimate tragedy.
My initial instinct was to say that birth is the same: it’s a forced state in which you don’t have an opportunity to learn anything about your prior state by virtue of being forced into a new state. But maybe I have that wrong - maybe merely coming into existence is teaching you something about your null prior state?
