prepare children so that they’re equipped for the world but not expecting of anything in particular. girls keeping drinks safe from roofies as example. lesson here is you don’t want to drink something that you don’t intend to drink and that your body chemistry is sensitive and important. vs men might put stuff in your drink to rape you. at the end of the day the outcome is the same (girls protecting their drinks), but the meme of “guys drug drinks” is less present in the wold. whether that takes place in the world the girl grows up in is irrelevant to how safe she’ll be given her drink-protecting habits. if there are no drink-druggers in her world, that meme can die out. if there are, at least it’s one less person perpetuating it. compare to if she’s taught that there are drink druggers. if they end up not being present in her world, she won’t know that, and the meme perpetuates in absence of the real thing. if they end up being present she’s no more safe than in the original solution.
